Phil Addington (Bass, backing vocals, percussion)
As a founding member of Swank, Phil Addington has been collaborating with fellow band mate, Spencer MicKinnon for close to 25 years. Prior to forming Swank, Phil had long been a fixture in Vancouver's alternative music scene, forming the infamous punk rock group Insex with his brothers in 1979, and then later alongside Madeleine Morris in seminal new wave band Family Plot in 1984.
In a musical career that has spanned over 30 years, Phil has been fortunate enough to play on the same bill as bands such as The Ramones, The Stranglers, Siousxie & The Banshees, Husker Du, DOA, The Subhumans, The Young Canadians, Love & Rockets, Hunters & Collectors, Wire, Nina Hagen, and was a part of Hardcore '81 in Vancouver, BC with Insex.
In more recent years, in addition to Swank, Phil has also collaborated on stage and in the studio with bands such as Steve Taylor's Drum Boogie, Doug Andrew & Circus in Flames, Bughouse 5, The Greasy Kings, Butch Murphy & The Bloody Miracles, Mike Van Eyes, The Nervous Fellas, The Hardrock Miners, and Rodney DeCroo.
Phil opened Bonerattle Music on Commercial Drive in 2006, and has been operating the independent music shop ever since.
